Heads of the blocs in the Kurdish Parliament discuss the formation of a new government

Arbil / NINA / The heads of parliamentary blocs in the Kurdistan region’s Parliament held a meeting at Parliament House to discuss the formation of the provincial government.

A member of parliament for the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Farsat Sofie told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / “The meeting aims to speed up the resumption of Parliament’s sessions and elect a chairman for the parliament and form the new government.”

He added, “The members of parliament are subjected to heavy public pressure to resolve their differences and form a new provincial government,” expected to reached an agreement and end the current crisis during the next two weeks.

It is mentioned that the elections in Kurdistan region held on 21, September of the last year, and resulted in the progress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party with / 38 / seats, and Taqeer Movement, led by Nushirwan Mustafa with / 24 / seat in second place, while Jalal Talabani’s Party, (PUK) Thirdly with 18 seats, the Kurdistan Islamic Union Fourthly with / 10 / seats , followed by the Islamist group obtaining / 6 / seats then the Islamic Movement with one seat, then the Kurdistan Democratic Socialist Party winning a single seat.

The consultations and negotiations, to form a provincial government, are still going continuously between Nechirvan Barzani and the parties and forces won in the election to form the new government. / End
