Tlar wrote: -Iran had to side with the people and was just looking for an excuse to slam Maliki and the SOL. They see the writing on the wall. Maliki’s SOL is being killed in the elections. So in order to have some kind of relationship with the new incoming gover ment they have to slam their boy for the last 4 years, Maliki and his SOL.

But now Iran realizes the people hat the SOL and Maliki and their influence has even been called into question during this election and the months leading up to it.
Iran has to let the Iraqi’s resolve these elections on their own then trust me, they will swoop in and pretend to be happy for Iraq saying “thank god you guys finally got rid of that guy. It is our desire to have good relations. So how can we help you.”
In fact it was Iran who backed Maliki up until a few months ago until they saw the blocks coming together to get rid of him. Since then they have sung a different tune trying to appear neutral in Iraq’s affairs until after this is settled and the new government is formed.
Maliki trying to negotiate a position a few weeks back told me even he did not believe he would win. Iran smearing Maliki confirms he will loose because if Maliki had any chance of winning, Iran would support him again. Nobody bets on a horse sure to loose. ~~ tlar
